North America Regional Secretary

I have just arrived in Montreal, where I will be spending the next 20 days, busy with the last efforts in preparation for the GA and then with the attendance of GA proper.

As the Regional Secretary of the host continent, I feel immensely thrilled to welcome students, senior friends and many others to the General Assembly. We have worked very hard to make this assembly a successful one and still so much needs to happen in the next few days prior to the arrival of the delegates. The collective work, the enormous dedication of so many people, the passion that all those who have spent a huge amount of hours and energy are inspiring and bode so well for the upcoming assembly.

I attended my first GA in 1995, then as the official delegate of the Italian SCM (FGEI). And thirteen years later here I am attending another GA, this time as a part of the global staff for the WSCF. I am looking forward to experiencing this assembly in a different capacity, but with the same passion for social justice, constructive ecumenism, peace and progressive social change that has characterized my involvement in the federation and which makes the Federation so unique.
